I Didn’t Leave The Republican Party, The Party Left Me

In looking back, I do not know when or how it happened.  Did it happen all at once or was this a slow and steady change?  If I had to, I couldn’t even point out a specific time, a certain instance in where or how it all changed.  I just do not know when the GOP became part of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.  In fact, while watching the GOP debates, I feel as if I am a little kid at the circus with cotton candy and popcorn.  Almost all of them appear to be the insane clown posse.

Due to longer believing in what the Democratic Party stood for, in 1962, Ronald Reagan said “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the party left me”.  Using that same logic, I can now say that I didn’t leave the Republican Party, the party left me.

I am now changing my membership to the Independence Party here in NY.  I have been feeling this way for a while, but after watching these clowns on stage at the GOP debates, it is clear that they do not have a clue on how to govern, cannot take a definitive stance on a issues, are immersed in scandal, and do not remember anything while debating and giving speeches.  It is almost as if I am watching Comedy Central rather than a political debate.  Do these candidates represent the GOP in its entirety, as well as its mindset?

Look at Herman Cain, he is immersed in scandal that has even eclipsed Bill Clinton and the future of his campaign is uncertain.  The GOP spent a ton of cash and wasted everyone’s time in impeaching Bill Clinton for lying about his affairs in the Oval Office.  However, they now have a candidate that surpasses former President Clinton when it comes to sexual scandal and allegations, which he too denies.  Does anyone see anything wrong with that?  What exactly qualifies this guy to be a presidential candidate?

If we examine everything we know about him during these debates, he does not know what was going on in Libya and couldn’t say as to whether or not he agreed with President Obama and his actions there.  He basically had no idea what President Obama’s actions were.  This was not the first time he displayed incoherence on an issue.  When speaking about abortion, he felt that it should be illegal, but it should be the choice of the women; yet, government should not be involved.  Are you confused?  I thought so…I am still confused.  He is a joke and should stick to making pizza.

When discussing Rick Perry, I screw up my words just as he does when giving a speech.  This is due to my disbelief that this guy is actually a presidential candidate.  I just do not know what to say.  When looking at his political career, he was George W. Bush’s Lieutenant Governor…that actually speaks volumes in trying to understand how incapable he really is.  To put it lightly, Rick Perry is a dope.  He goes on stage and cannot even remember the three government Departments that he would want to do away with.  Even when every other candidate was throwing names out, he still could not remember.  While giving numerous speeches he sounds as if he is drunk or high on something and just looks like a bumbling idiot.  Aside from the state of Texas having the highest execution rate, which may or may not be good depending on ones’ position on the death penalty, what can this guy actually say he has done?

Regarding Michele Bachman, Joe Scarborough said it best by saying she is “never going to get close winning the presidential nomination.”   After millions of Americans lost their jobs, their pensions and are now forced to change their lives, as well as their family’s lives, Michele Bachmann goes on to say “I wish the federal government had defaulted.”, when discussing the economic situation of the United States.  The sad part in this whole thing was that she received applause and that says volumes about those that support her.

In one of her many historical fact screw ups, this same moron also wished Elvis Presley a happy birthday on the anniversary of his death.  In another, she launched her campaign in Waterloo, Iowa and wanted to channel the spirit of Waterloo’s own son, John Wayne.  There is a big problem with that.  Although she was referring to John Wayne the actor, Waterloo is actually the home of the serial killer John Wayne Gacy.  What qualifies her to be President of the United States?

Next we have is the greatest flip-flopper of them all, Mitt Romney.  This is a guy that has a million positions on one topic.  He has flip-flopped on every issue, ranging from abortion to global warming.  In fact, there is even a website dedicated to listing all the flip flops by Mitt Romney.  At first he was for gay rights, now he is against gay marriage.  At one time he wanted contraception to be widely available, now he has a strong pro-life stance.  Once upon a time, he supported stem-cell research and he even mentioned his wife’s multiple sclerosis that could have been helped with such research.  Nowadays, he opposes stem-cell research

Let’s be serious, he looks just like the Nazi, Colonel Hans Landa from Inglorious Bastards.  Do we really want a guy like this to be our president?  With his pretty hair and pounds of makeup used on him, I feel he would be better off working in Madam Tussauds as a wax figure.

Last but not least, we have the biggest loser of them all…Newt Gingrich.  I am at a loss of words when talking about this poor excuse for the representation of the American people.  This is the guy responsible for President George H.W. Bush losing the 1992 Presidential Election by dividing the Republican Party, which helped pave the way for Pat Buchanan to seek the Republican nomination.  He did not support the 1990 Budget Enforcement Act, which economists and historians view as the foundation of the economic growth of the late 1990’s.  That’s not all he has done to not support what was best for the United States and its citizens.  He was responsible for the government shutdown in the mid 1990’s and acted like a cry baby over the way President Bill Clinton supposedly treated him.

Newt Gingrich is a joke of a politician.  This is the same guy that has had extramarital affairs while preaching the importance of family.  He has supported the Patriot Act and it seems as if he is willing to turn this nation into a police state to stop terrorism.  Benjamin Franklin once said, “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety”.  When will he realize that he is a failed politician with his political career behind him?

I can go on and list more candidates, but I won’t.  My blood pressure’s high enough.  How do candidates like these ever get elected to a political office or raise the support and financial capital to make a presidential bid?  I feel that the people of the United States are to blame for electing people like these to their political offices, as well as giving them the attention they need to continue their presidential campaigns.  The only candidate I support from the GOP is Ron Paul.  He does not display the uneducated thoughts that the rest of them do.  He learned a critical social rule early on, which was to think before you speak.  This is something none of the other candidates seem to understand.  Unfortunately, Ron Paul does not fit in with the GOP platform and there is no chance he will obtain the Republican nomination for president.  In looking around, Obama 2012 seems all the more appealing.
